Entryways say something about you as the owner and often leave a lasting impression. They can express a mood of welcomeness or privacy, sophistication or simplicity, drama or restraint. An entryway can consist of columns with an iron gate, a trellis with climbing vines or a matching pair of specimen trees. When designing an entryway one should consider the architectural style of the house, it's relationship to scale, balance, appropriate materials and issues of security. But, most importantly, the entryway is always the first thing to greet you when you return home. |
